Since time immemorial, people have had a fascination for the zodiac signs and zodiac pendants, despite other zodiac items presented along with them! The zodiac signs can be seen in various art forms, on jewelry, walls and some landmarks. This indicates that it is an ancient wisdom passed on from generations. This symbolic wisdom lets you know something about the bearer of a particular zodiac sign—his/her personality traits, the good and bad omens, what the future heralds and so on. It also indicates what would happen if sign bearer wears the zodiac pendant. This zodiac sign need not be found on a necklace with a pendant attached to it. The bearer can have it impressed in a ring or get it needlepointed on a pillow; sketch the sign on a poster or even paint it on an air freshener in a car.
During my “smoking days” as a teenager, my mother who condoned this habit in her daughter, decided to gift me something. She presented me with a cigarette lighter. She had not been able to get a pendant with my zodiac sign, Leo on it–so had opted for this, seeing Leo engraved on the hatch. She had not observed that the picture on the lighter represented the sexual position of a Leo couple! If a pendant had been present at the shop, the lighter would have never reached my hands!
Sites like eBay offer beautiful zodiac jewelry at affordable prices. Everything is accessible online. One such piece that appealed to me was a silver chain that was about 16 to 18 inches in length. The pendant that was attached to it was one-inch long and had a good carving on it. The lion’s head with its flowing mane encrusted with a few cubic zirconia captured my attention. The chain was of a metal that I like–silver–and was of the zodiac sign, Leo. So I purchased it for a hundred dollars.
There is another necklace with a pendant which does not show the lion, but a picture of the zodiac sign itself. Of course, this is for Leons too! The picture represents an upside down “U” with a curlicue shown near each leg. Other pieces of jewelry with other zodiac signs are equally lovely.
EBay offers numerous choices for the buyer. One can go in for jewelry pieces in 3-D with turquoise inlaid on them, or small plaques highlighting the sign. Some plaques do not depict the sign but concentrate on the material of the plaque, which can be of gold or silver or copper or leather. The prices are very reasonable, stepping up from just a few dollars to a few hundred dollars. The options are varied. The only thing is that the materials must be sought before the bidding period ends. There are all sorts with different shapes and sizes, varied information and inscriptions. Those coming from the 1970s depict sexual positions or classics. If you do not want such pieces, then check for those icons and elements that are more suitable for you.
